Sophisticated traditional cultures have been using detoxification methods to heal various illnesses ranging from infections to epilepsy. Sweat lodges and saunas are still in use today. Fasting in particular has been around for thousands of years and has been practiced by so many cultures all around the world and recently has made it into popular culture as "biohacking" practices such as Intermittent Fasting and Fast Mimicking. In my experience these short cuts fall well short of the potential benefit of a traditional fast of three days or more.
When I was in my early 20’s I had the rare opportunity to be part of a Taoist self cultivation school of martial arts in which we partook in annual 30 day cleanses which culminated in a fast. Since that time I have embarked on dozens of fast and cleansing explorations resulting in a perfected system that cleanses the mind and body, removing the debris that clouds our awareness of spiritual connection to the universal source of life.
These practices include hours of qigong and meditation, skin brushing, lymph massage, saunas, herbs at specific times and a dietary protocol that I have refined over the decades. This process requires dedication, commitment and ideally an opportunity to be outside in nature, breathing the healthy qi of clean air which is rich in oxygen from plants and trees. Contrary to common misconception, fasting can provide sufficient energy to increase movement beyond what is normally practiced in a given day. The key is qigong and meditation, effective detoxification methods, and time to go with the flow of life, rather than against it, which the majority of us do everyday.
If you want to join me for the April cleanse this year, you have two options. The first option is to follow the protocol virtually. We will provide private links to qigong videos, qigong classes live through streaming, zoom workshops, and a dietary transition plan to discontinue specific foods in specific order based on experience and to minimize muscle tissue breakdown. If you join us virtually you will have to find a way to exercise and do saunas on your own, but everything else will be provided.
We currently have only three beds, for couples or singles, so participation is only available to a select few. This is only because we are still building our accommodations, so if you are unable to join us this year, you may have an opportunity to join us next year when we have more rooms available. In order to apply for in person participation, please send us an email through our contact us page.
